Additional Resources
Here are a few places you’ll find further information about CAD and Design:
LayoutEditor itself can be found here: http://www.layouteditor.net/
Documentation is in a WIKI format, starting here: http://www.layouteditor.net/wiki/Introduction
I certainly recommend, even if you are an experienced CAD user, that you review the discussion of user interface features here: http://www.layouteditor.net/wiki/Userinterface
The user interface of LayoutEditor is quite complex, and highly configurable, as well as designed for streamlined work, once you are familiar with the details.
An extensive introduction to layout and LayoutEditor can be found here: http://www.layouteditor.net/Introduction_to_LayoutEditor.pdf
Finally a huge page of documentation can be found here: http://www.layouteditor.net/tutorial/white.php5
One useful nugget for Macintosh users: the "Ctrl" indicator, for example on mouse functions, is actually the "Command", or "Apple" key on Macs. "
There’s some useful general information about designing, especially making masks for contact photolithography here:
From the Stanford Nanofabrication Facility: https://snf.stanford.edu/SNF/processes/process-modules/photolithography/maskmaking In particular, the “Contact Mask Design Principles” and “Photomask Basics” at this page provide a wealth of useful design details.
From the Cornell Nanofabrication Facility: http://www.cnf.cornell.edu/cnf_process_mask_patternprep.html provide useful information, especially for contact lithography mask plates, and this page provides some details about alignment marks for contact lithography systems: http://www.cnf.cornell.edu/cnf5_alignmentKey.html, including some design files you can download.
