Silicon Photonics Workshop at IEEE GFP Conference

Pre-GFP Silicon Photonics Workshop
3:00PM - 6:00PM
Pre-GFP Silicon Photonics Workshop

Tuesday, 25 August 2015 3:00pm – 6:00pm, followed by a complimentary reception and dinner, hosted by Lumerical Solutions, at Grouse Mountain.

* Space is limited, please register for the conference to reserve your seat.

This workshop has three parts:
1) Schematic-driven design and layout tools
2) Rapid-turn around EBeam fabrication & tested (included)
3) MPW foundry availability

This workshop teaches participants how to design silicon photonic circuits using a schematic-driven PDK.  The same tools and techniques are used for both EBeam and for MPW foundry manufacturing.  Hence, the EBeam fabrication opportunity can serve as a rapid trial of the software tools.  Tools will be provided during and after the workshop to complete the design cycle.

Participant designs will be fabricated by a state-of-the-art rapid-prototyping 100 keV electron-beam lithography facility (University of Washington). All designs will be tested using an automated optical probe station (University of British Columbia) and the data provided to the participants. Participants will then analyze their experimental data.

CMC Microsystems will discuss its experience delivering foundry-based multi-project wafer (MPW) fabrication services, design kits and packaging.

Target Audience: Industry Professionals, Academics and Students
